Workshop Project: What Our Students Create in a Single Session

In Furniture Makeover Ideas and Guides 0 comments

One of the things we love most about running furniture painting workshops is watching someone walk in nervous and walk out with a finished piece they're genuinely proud of. It happens every single session.

This is a look at what our workshop students create — and what they learn — in a single hands-on session at Sweet Pea Interiors.

The Workshop Experience

Our workshops are held in Newcastle and the Lake Macquarie area and run for beginner, intermediate and advanced skill levels. Every session is hands-on from the start — you're painting, not watching.

Students work on a real piece of furniture, using Artisan Paint Company chalk finish and mineral paint, and leave with a finished piece they've created themselves. Most people are genuinely surprised by what they achieve in a single session.

A Recent Student Project

[INTRO — describe a real student project in 2-3 sentences. Who was the student (first name only is fine)? What piece did they work on? What was their experience level coming in?]

The Piece

  • Furniture: [e.g. Timber bedside table]
  • Paint: Artisan Chalk Finish in [COLOUR]

What Students Learn

In a single workshop session, students learn:

  • How to properly prepare a surface before painting
  • How to apply chalk finish or mineral paint for a smooth, even result
  • How to choose and use the right brush
  • Finishing techniques — distressing, layering or sealing depending on the workshop level
  • How to choose and fit cabinet hardware
  • How to troubleshoot common problems

Most importantly, they leave with the confidence to tackle their own projects at home.

What Students Say

[INSERT a genuine quote from a workshop student if you have one. Even a paraphrase works: "One of our recent students told us she'd been too nervous to try furniture painting for years — and couldn't believe how achievable it was once she had the right guidance."]
